WEBSITES FOR LEGAL & OTHER PROFESSIONALS

Thomas Hannah & Co. is a long-established firm of Messengers-at-Arms and Sheriff Officers. The firm had a basic website that had outlived both fashion and usefulness, so hired me to create something fresh.

• Custom design. As officers of court, the practice needed a website that reflected its authority and professionalism, but without looking stuffy or bland. The firm’s proprietor had a clear liking for maroon, which was already used on the company letterheads and other stationery. These factors all steered my design decisions.
• Content and architecture. After analysing its business, I guided the firm on what kind of content would be appropriate and how it should be organised and structured on the site. I also helped with the copywriting effort.
• Wordmark. I designed a new, simple but tasteful wordmark — set in the classic Garamond typeface — for use on the website and in Thomas Hannah’s promotional materials.
• Hosting and maintenance. The Thomas Hannah website is hosted on a DECEMBER14 server, and I provide site maintenance services to the firm.

As part of the same project, I also developed a brochure for Thomas Hannah, which may be downloaded from the website. Later, I was asked by the firm to produce a “one page” website for its specialist tracing unit, TracingUK.
